The firm is also in talks with the Northern Quarter Business Association and its members about rolling it out in the neighbourhood. Hyperfast speeds are officially classified as speeds of more than MB. The Glee-fi project delivered by OneTek has already revolutionised the gay village area and costs taxpayers nothing because the new hubs are funded by private sector businesses such as shops, bars and restaurants.
Businesses and venues pay monthly fees to install a new hub which gives them secure access to faster internet and an additional device for public access Wi-Fi. Lee Donoghey, managing director of OneTek, the company behind the scheme, said: "The gay village in Manchester now has the fastest public Wi-Fi speeds in Europe. We are in early dialogue with key decision makers in Manchester to make it happen and momentum is building.
